“Blue… is calming… or was that brown? No brown is boring… black is demanding… I should go with blue…” she said rummaging through her closet before she threw on a dress with a jacket. She grabbed a piece of toast then walked out of the door before turning around to pick up her laptop and notes that she had left on her kitchen counter. She rushed to her car door and drove to the airport. Thankfully there was very little traffic, except for some guy that kept honking because she was apparently driving too slow at 65. She checked her car into a parking lot and rushed off to her plane.
It was going to be one of those days huh? Oh well, that’s life right? She walked up to the boarding gate and handed the woman her ticket that she printed online. Sadly, it was declined. Great…another delay. She had to talk to the manager and they booked her on the next flight which was leaving in 10 minutes. So just a little bit later. She sat down in the chair at the gate and waited. At least she didn’t have to worry about being late to her plane. The conference that she was giving wasn’t until a day after her arrival which would be almost enough to account for the jet lag.
Yes, she was headed to another country to give a seminar on some new form of technology she was giving. It was a new type of generator that was meant to power a whole city block with the same energy it would have taken a full power plant to do. She did however have to present it in a way that the people would take to it. It would cost a bit to implement ,but once it was in there were so many people who could have electricity at an affordable price who never could before. This conference was specifically for a few Arabian countries. A college of hers had gone to present her invention at the European front , another to the Chinese and so on. Indeed, her little development was going to take the world by storm , at least she hoped it would. In the end it was still up to the governments to purchase and implement them into their power systems. The U.S government had already refused to pay for them and sadly the people she worked for weren’t going to set them up for nothing…not to mention it would be illegal to get them on government property. The conferences had been setup by LVR Electronics and they had hired translators for each person. She of course had an Arabian translator. She was rather excited for the chance to present though. It was honestly her first time. Sure she had invented things before, but she had never had the opportunity to present them herself.
She still had a lot go through before she would get there. She was just looking forward to crashing in the hotel…though the idea of flying premiere class was nice too. Working for a company with too much cash to blow had its perks sometimes. It wasn’t quite first class but it was pretty close and she would have settled for coach. As she sat down she started to sip a coffee that she had bought at one of the vendors in the airport when she heard her name called. She jumped up at her name and spilled her coffee on the man next to her. “ Oh my goodness… I’m so sorry” She said then took out some Kleenex tissues and started patting down his pants. The people called her again. She wrote down her email address on a sheet of tissue paper.“ Oh crap, um here’s my email I’ll totally pay to have it cleaned! I have to go now though. I’m so sorry. “ She apologized again then ran off to the gate to board. They let her on as one of the first to board do to her little problem earlier. She packed her bag up in the storage above her seat then she slid into the seat beside the window and took a breath. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back on her chair. She felt someone sit down beside her. She lifted up her head and of all people it had to be the man she had spilled coffee on. She gave him an awkward smile. “ hi” She spoke. She was always the friendly kind. She tried her best to get comfortable as the plane took off for Beirut, Lebanon. Oh, it was going to be a long…long flight.
