SOME LOVE
all we need in this world is
Fingers dancing across her keyboard, Alex nodded to herself and along with the beat of the music softly playing from her headphones. She'd just finished a rather thorough testing of a project sent to her, so the report was the next step in her process. A smile tilted her lips as she finally brought the report to a close. Glancing at the clock, she gave a long stretch. "Two hours! Told you I'd finish this up before tonight." she half purred to her feline companion on her lap. The cat peered up at her with a soft meow in response, purring at her as she kissed the feline on the head. "Now that I'm done, I think I should prepare the house and everything." she explained which told the feline something because it leapt from her lap and went to curl up on her office couch. Smiling lovingly at the feline, she padded her way through her home.
It was short work, as it was every month. She locked things up, shut stuff down, and sent off everything she needed to. She'd likely be shot for work tomorrow, so she got it all done today. It was a necessity for her species. The full moon was a stressful, but natural part of all were life. Or at least that's what her parents always taught her. Taking some snacks and toys out to the barn, Alex set herself up for the night. Pulling out her book and cheese crackers, she bid her time until the moon would rise. It wouldn't be long though, so she didn't fully invest into the story. That only made it more difficult to relate to the characters or anything happened. Grumbling to herself, Alex threw her book aside and lazed about.
Less than an hour later, she felt her body begin to shift. Looking to the barn opening, she saw the big, beautiful moon in the sky. Smiling slightly, she layed out and let the change take her. It was painful, she'd be lying if she said otherwise. Though after years of living with this, she was used to it and that seemed to make it quick. Like knowing how to deal with severe pain in the right way; no way to decrease it, just deal with it. Her whimper turned into a full whine as her body made the shift. Stretching slowly, she yipped happily at her form.
After some minor play time, she decided to go for a short run in the moonlight. She promised herself not to get distracted or go far before she left. Leaping from the window, she landed gracefully below and took off running. The joy of running was near blinding and she forgot herself. Her promise was completely forgotten as she weaved through the fields and was making a beeline towards the road. She didn't purposefully do it, but by the time she realized she did it; she was in the road. By the time she was in the road; it was too late. She hadn't heard it coming, but like a deer in headlights, Alex stood stalk still. Too bad the next moment her world went black with an explosion of pain.
