A friend of mine, Beth, decided to help people by giving a few tips for version 5 located below! =D
You can tag people by using the "@" symbol plus username. Never forget a thread / post again! For example to tag the admin you can do: THE ADMIN IS A DINOSAUR.
If you don't know the username just hover over the member's name in their profile and it will tell you what to use.
A notification bubble will pop up in the menu bar where it says "Profile" if you've been tagged in a thread, or if you have new activity from your friends / followers. (You can friend / follow people on the site to keep track of them).
Version 5 remembers drafts of your posts. Accidentally log out of the screen and you think your post has gone poof? Just go into your profile > edit profile > settings > click "enable drafts". You can also set which tab you want to default to in the posting area. Visual is nifty because what you see is what you get, you don't have to worry about the new bbc buttons / codes.
We now have a mini-profile option! So if you want to have your characters age, alias, martial status, plotter, application for easier access... Then go to edit profile > personal > then update what you want. Though please make sure if you do either age and martial status, you have to do both. Why? If not the coding goes bonkers. =) The other ones are up to you to input in.
Don't like the skin? Tired of it? There are two new skins. Want to check them out? Go to your profile > edit profile > settings > click on where it says "Forum Theme". There is a green skin, a blue/purple skin, and this lovely red/brown skin.
Did you like using those nifty posting templates on version 4? Well you can now use posting templates made for IF / Jcink and post them in the visual tab. I believe Version 5 will keep the formatting and let you edit the tables. There may be a few glitches here and there depending on the code, but it just mostly transfer.
Where's blockquote?
Unfortunately they took it out, however if you input it manually it should work.
You can like posts now as well, there should be a like button in the person's post above yours if you just want to like it rather than comment.
Think that's it for now, if you have questions feel free to ask. =)
