NAME:Alexis Jayne Sohmner.
AGE:Twenty-seven.
GENDER:Female.
SEXUALITY:Bisexual.
SPECIES:Other: Were-fox, specifically a red fox.
NATIONALITY:Passport says American.
OCCUPATION:Pet sanctuary owner and game tester.
`live for suffer, live for revenge
know your life comes to an end*
know your life comes to an end*
APPEARANCE:Alexis is on the tall side of the generally accepted female height, especially among her family. She's exactly six feet and three inches tall. Tall, isn't she? she's slim, lithe really, but her limbs fit her physique quite well. She isn't lanky or overly long limbed, just a tall lady. Her skin is average, without a scar or tattoo maring her. Her hair isn't too long, just beyond her shoulders wavy and mid-back if she perfectly straight. The strands are medium brown in color and is painstakingly cared for. Her eyes are dark green in color, forest green some have said. The eyes are widows to the soul, and her eyes are often shining with amusement and mistief. Her style is simple, really. She has a present obsession with long tops, short dresses, leggings, tights, and long boots. She'll wear more formal or less dressy clothes if she feels like it, but over half of her closet is of her obsession. Her jewelry is less of an accessory, more of a collection. There are a few trinkets that she wears religiously, but majority of her vast quantity is simply a collection of shiny, beautiful things. Her make-up is a simple thing, more on the natural side of things than anything. A bit of foundation, some eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and she's done. The only thing make-up wise that she doesn't keep simple is her nails. She loves to make them as lovely as possible, with seasonal and mood styles.
Her large fox form is the size of a horse, but incredibly slim like most foxes are. Her legs are dark in color, her fur is thick and orange/red in color, her underside is white all the way from her bottom to her nose, the tip of her tail is white, and her eyes are a bright, eerie greed in color.
Much like her large fox form, her small fox form is slim and the same colors, but slimmer and her fur is less fluffy. Her eyes are darker and no longer retain the human appearance. She looks exactly like any other fox. The only difference between her and any other fox is she's wearing a black collar with a gold nametag. The only thing it says is 'Alex', so it's often assumed that she has owners, but on the other side of the tag it has a symbol for her pack.
CELEB CLAIM:Lyndsy Fonseca.
`taste the blood, taste your fate

PERSONALITY:Determination; This is likely Alex's best strength and worst weakness, but she is set in her ways. If she chooses to do something, then she is doing it. Nothing is going to stop her from completeing the task. If she believes something, then there is very little chance of changing her mind. This can be good, as it keeps liars and con artists from shifting her views, but it can also be terrible. If she's set on the belief that her way of doing something is the best, but a new way has been discovered, it takes her weeks to change. Her car? It's the same one she's had since she learned to drive.
Dependable; Alex is a woman of her word. If she agrees to do something for you, then you can 100% count on her to see the job done. It doesn't matter if it comes to her attention that it will take her weeks to complete the task, she will do it. Not only will she get it done, regardless of help or time needed, she'll do it so that you have multiple options. Need someone to develop a website and design it for you? Don't worry, she'll learn how, design a webside, and then make a couple more designs for you to use if you so desire. Above and beyond, but she's a stickler for doing a good job.
Creative; Alex is a creative thinker with an active mind. She's constantly thinking about options and different ways to solve problems, old and new. She is proud of her ability to create new solutions to problems. This also segways into her life, how she cares for the dogs, her job, and her personal life.
Aware; There are few people who can take this girl by surprise, especially in the woods. She keeps her senses on high alert and is often fully aware of near everything going on. In a crowded room, she can tell you the number of people, their drinks and food, when they last showered, and so on. She likes to know what's going on around her, so it isn't so much a skill as a state of being. She feels she has to be aware to live.
Me-centric; It isn't so much that she doesn't care about other people, it isn't like that. Alex has been raised to think of only herself, her needs, her pleasures, and what she wanted to obtain, so it's difficult for her to think in terms of other people. She helps people, sure, but it's more out of a desire to make herself proud and feel good for doing something for someone else. It's something she's working on, but it's hard seeing as everyone in her pack is the same way.
Playful; While most of the time she's completely serious, Alex loves to play. She'll roll in the leaves/grass, dance in the rain, climb a tree, or whatever else catches her fancy at the time. In this, she loves children because they most easily connect with her while she's playing. Adults are too serious for her tastes and don't spend enough time letting loose and playing. So, yes, she's can be incredibly childish, but it's only sometimes.
LIKES:video games, being brushed, laying in the sun, dancing in the rain, dancing and singing in her house, baking sweets, re-organizing her stuff, shopping, swimming, climbing things, being up high, playing with the animals, brushing the animals, tending to her garden, playing the piano, sliding down the stairs on a mattress, and cuddling
DISLIKES:sour candy, being caught in the rain as a fox, small children finding her as a small fox, being mistaken for a werewolf, talking about her family, missing her friends, getting anything on her hands, falling down, stop signs, and not being able to find a good song to sing with
SECRETS:hates her father for being so pro-pack, is terrified of cars when in her small fox form regardless of her own knowledge about them, and is actually afraid of heights
FEARS:heights, cars (when in fox form), freefalling with moments of knowing death is coming without being able to stop it, and leeches (creepy little vampires)
DREAMS:fall in love, have a family, create a pack of her own, and create her own video game company
STRENGTHS:very good at baking sweets, very good with hair, excels at playing the piano, very well written, detail oriented, avid gamer, good dancer, average singer, good-natured, short anger bursts (meaning when she does lose her temper, it never lasts long), and easy-going
WEAKNESSES:short fused, very task focused (meaning when she decides to finish a project, she does NOTHING else until it is. No eating, showering, anything), mixture of enjoying high places and being afraid often ends with her stuck up high (yes, like a cat), her need for physical contact often makes people uncomfortable which upsets her, unwilling to leave someone in danger (even at her own expense), and often easily becomes obsessed with things or people she deems good

HISTORY:The Crimson pack isn't extremely special. They're a group of about 53 members with rules and such like every other pack. The pack is close, like a big family. They take up a whole street with a base of operations being an old farmhouse in the country. Their home is in Texas. There is one thing that makes this pack different from other packs, the specifics of some rules.
One is the rule on mates and how they are pre-chosen by the parents. The problem is that if there isn't an equal amount females as there is males, then pairs can't be chosen. For example, if there is more females than males, then when old enough and depending on the parents' choice, a cluster of females will duel for the right to mate. If they don't wish to fight for a mate, then that member has three choices; death, dicommunication, or an oath to remain single and virgin.
Two is that this pack is very opportunist. This means that it's every member for themselves on a great number of the situations. If a hunter were to attack, they are to scatter and take care of themselves until the alpha deems it safe. Which can lead to the alpha sacrificing people for the sake of them-self. It's unorthodox, but it has kept them alive for nearly two hundred years.
Third and finally is the rule about purity. If a member fails to win a mate among the pack and wishes to mate any other species outside of a pure were-red-fox, then they are out. No one among the pack, for any reason, can be anything but a pure breed were-red-fox. No exceptions. All of this came make life among the pack complicated.
--------------------------------------------------
Nathaniel and Alyssa Sohmner were overjoyed when luck brought them a child. They'd been trying for years, even tried adopting. Adoption was not an option due entirely to pack rules. As in the alpha straight up denied them. A child not of their blood would not be permitted into the pack, would not be accepted, and in fact would be disowned and ignored. Hard as it was, the couple kept trying for the child they both always wanted. So, when it finally did happen, joyous didn't even cover how they felt. The pregnancy was average, with excessive doctor visits due to the first time parents being extremely protective of the unborn child.
Nine months later, Miss Alexis Jayne Sohmner was born. Needless to say there was plenty of festivities to overwhelm the newborn child. Were creature or not, the child was quickly tuckered out by the week long celebration. Yes, they were that excited about the new addition to their pack. She was the first female to be born in at least five years. So, it was very exciting. For reasons entirely unknown to the newborn. It would come to be known later. Much later on in her life.
Her toddler years were full of play and fun. There were plenty of children for her to play with. All boys, but that didn't seem to matter. Everything was amazing, and Alex loved her family. All fifty or so of them. She made friends quickly, made enemies rarely, and seemed to be so very full of joy all the time. Her parents were very happy with their child. Were they likely to have another child? No, probably not, so they were spoiling Alex absolutely rotten. She was their little princess.
Life was thoroughly simple for most of Alex's life. She enjoyed school. Loved being a were-fox and shifting, though it took years to be able to do so freely. She had friends among all of the pack, and loved them all dearly. She was trustworthy and kind. There were very few members of the pack who didn't love the slim little Sohmner girl. Though she was happy throughout her education, it was quickly cut short when her parents finally told her.
They finally felt as though she was old enough to know. One week after she graduated high school, they felt it was a perfect time to tell her about the upcoming event in her honor. Since no other girls had been born during her age group, there would be a pack event. All 9 of the boys in her age group would fight to death for the right to mate with her. The boys and Alex had three options if they didn't wish to fight or mate, those were explained, but it was also explained that rarely did anyone invoke the options.
Alex was floored by this piece of information. Her parents misinterpreted her owlish blinking to mean wonder and kept talking about it. The event was apparently a big deal among the members. People were extremely excited about it. The pack was having a party about the fact that eight of their own members were either going to die, excommunicated, or take a lifelong oath. It was hard to grasp for Alex. She'd never heard of this part of her pack life. It was enough to make her mind whirl. Excusing herself from dinner, she went up to her room to decide what to do. Thankfully her parents assumed she was excited about the event and needed time alone to collect her excessive amount of excitement and pride. Why wouldn't she tell them if she was upset?
Alex had never lied before. Sadly, this time, Alex was afraid. She didn't want anyone to die over her. It was driving her nuts. She could simply invoke one of the other options? Did she believe she could be single and a virgin her entire life? No, probably not, but excommunication seemed extreme. Though, the third option was the worst by far. What would the boys do if she chose death? Very extreme. So, tears brimming in her eyes, she made a choice. Excommunication was her only option to keep her friends alive. Perhaps she could talk them into going with her? That would be a perfect world, wouldn't it?
At that moment, when tears were streaming down her face, Alex's mom peaked in. Surprised at first, she asked what was wrong, but once the explanation was out, her mother's joyful expression fell. A story was told. About a young woman who loved her family members and was forced to watch two of her best friends be torn apart by her future mate. Nate killed two men, Dan and Ethan. They had names, personalities, and dreams, but they were cut short simply because their parents wanted them to mate with her. It was a sad cycle, but needed to keep the pack from adultery. It was a need that had been met some 150 years ago.
Her choice was final, and her mother knew it was the best option. Well, save allowing the event to happen as planned. Her little girl was not the type to allow violence on her behalf like this. Sighing, her mother thought about the issue at hand for a few moments, devising a plan. A thought struck her, and she explained it in a flurry of information. There was a man excommunicated during her mother's event, who lived in the city last she checked. While she could not communicate in return, Alyssa could recieve letters and she read each one religiously. The family was doing well, living in Houston. Writing down the information, giving all the money she could, and helping her daughter pack; it was a goodbye ritual of sorts. After the event's end, her mother, father, no one would be able to talk to her.
So, that spurred Alex into going to talk to her father, tell him her choice. He was angry at first, thinking it was a choice spur of the moment, but once he'd spoken at length with her, he could tell she'd thought long and hard about it. His wife came in, agreeing that their daughter had thought the choice through. After some tears and hugging, her father gave her the presents he'd been planning to give after the event, when she had a fiance. There were presents of varying sizes, cards and such things from other pack members, packages from excommunicated members, and a set of keys. After she took the house key off the set, she smiled through her tears at the car keys. A new car, eh?
After more tears and such, Alyssa ushered her daughter upstairs to bed. It would be a long night, and bright and early the next morning the event would take place. She had to be prepared to do everything she planned to. Her mother soothed her, saying that after the event she wouldn't be able to talk to her, but she could leave her bags and such. Her father promised he'd take her bags down to her car so she could leave. It would be immediate, as soon as her choice was made known then the entire pack wouldn't be able to talk to her at all. It was their way. That night, Alex slept little, but felt assured in her choice. Her leaving was better than her friends dying. It would always be better.
Bright and early, too early to Alex who'd slept very little. Just as promised, her mother helped her prepare and wake up. Ushered her into the shower, helped her dry off for the last time ever. And she helped her get ready for the event. Though she wouldn't be completing the event, it would be rude and untasteful for her to look a mess. It would reflect badly on the family, which was important. Her outfit was bright, joyful even, and her look was perfectly done. Looking at herself in the mirror, she fought back tears as she looked at her mother's sad expression. This would be the last time they could talk, with both parties being able to talk. Walking downstairs, there was hugging and goodbyes, but within the hour, they made their way to the event.
The sun was just peaking over the horizon when they walked into the big crowd of people. They were formed into a big circle with the boys within the circle. The groups just waited for the girl of choice to take the stage, to give a few words of encouragement to them. It was meant to be an experience, but it was meant to be for the good of the pack. Weed out the weak or something of the sort. Taking the stage, Alex eyed her childhood bestfriends, saw a variety of emotions on their faces. Some seemed fearful, some worried, and a couple even looked excited. It was strange, but Alex took a deep breathe and spoke. She told the pack she was invoking the choice to be excommunicated, that she could not handle watching her bestfriends, her family kill one another just for her hand. She refused to let this happen.
There was an uproar at first, people demanding that she go through with it, that it was expected of her. The alpha called for silence, strode up on the stage, and asked her if she was certain. Did she understand what she was doing? Not only to herself, her family, but to the pack? Alex understood. She was taking herself out of the pack, denying her parents a lifetime with her, denying the pack with new offspring through her, and she was saving the lives of eight people. She said so, and the alpha accepted her choice. He told the people it was her right, she had, with full knowledge of her own choice, invoked the right of excommunication. They had to allow it. Now it was up to her and her parents to get out of the pack. She was to be gone by midday.
With that, people began to disperse, but she had to walk through a pathway made of her bestfriends. They could communicate with her, they'd just been denied the right to fight for her, and so they wished her goodbye. Some admitted to knowing they'd lose and had sent ahead a gift of farewell to her. Others simply gifted her things they'd saved in case they won. It was bittersweet, but Alex was even more sure of her choice. Would any of the pack thank her for the choice? It was unlikely. Arriving at her childhood home, she padded her way in in silence, but was pushed to tears when she saw her parents stiffly walking about the home. Her father was carrying things outside, her mother was a flurry of activity in the kitchen. Alex was at a loss on what to do. Walking to her room, she found it bare. There was an empty bed, no sheets or pillows, an empty closet, and nothing else. Everything was gone.
Numbly she walked to her bathroom, saw much the same. All of her things were already packed up and gone. Her father was efficient as ever. Walking downstairs, she looked in on her father who was packing up her books and things from the study. He didn't look up, but she didn't think he would. Giving a silent goodbye, she made her way to the kitchen. Her mother was pulling together the cook books, snacks, and other such things meant for Alex and packing them away. It was hard, hard to see, but worse to know they couldn't say anything to her. It was hard, but it wouldn't get better just standing there.
So, with that and a nod, Alex went about going through things in the garage, in the attic, in the shed, and other such places her parents had gotten to yet. By lunch time, she watched her parents shut up her car and locked up the moving hookup trailer at the back of her car. All of her stuff was in there. Making sure everything was shut tight and secure, her parents turned without a word and went inside. It was the best and most they could do. Alex understood, but it still hurt. Taking a deep breathe to center herself, she go into the car, fished her keys out of her purse, and started driving.
The directions her mother gave her were good and within a few hours, she was arriving. Pulling up to the house, she sat in her car a moment, alternatively gripping the steering wheel. What was she to say? Oh, hey! I'm your neice, I've been excommunicated, and your sister thought you could help. Great first meeting material right there. Too bad she didn't have the luxery to plan because in that moment, the family came out the door in confusion. What was a car doing parked in their driveway? After the initial awkward introduction, that ironically went exactly how she thought, Anita pulled her in for a hug. She could stay.
Their names were Anita, the mother, John, the father, and Nikki, the daughter. The small family had apparently done well for themselves because their home was very big. Both parents were actors and Nikki was a model. She was single, which is why she still lived at home. Though honestly the home was big enough that she hardly ever saw her parents. It was a good set-up, and the family was perfectly happy with the whole idea of Alex coming to live with them. And after her story had been told, Anita shared her version of the story of what happened. She'd apparently fallen in love with John, not a mate option, and so the two were excommunicated. John was the man her mother mentioned.
At first it was awkward to be in a home she didn't know. Even after she'd unpacked and settled into her new room. Thankfully, getting to know them was always in quick spurts due to their busy lifestyles. They loved one another, but it was unlike the love Alex was used to. She didn't get to spend everyday with her aunt, uncle or cousin, but she knew they loved her. It became abundantly clear when the parents hooked her up into their bank account. Sure, they made her swear to get a paying job, but she was given a bank card to use as she saw fit. It was alarming. It was odd. It was how they showed they cared. Alex accepted it.
Within a year of moving in, Alex took it upon herself to apply to a local college. She was going to make something of herself. Make her mom proud, wherever she was. Hopefully she'd heard about it somehow. After her first year at college, she decided upon a major. Or rather double major. She majored in Video game design and English literature, favoring the writing aspect more than reading. It was both things she loved. Being surrounded by boys gave her a healthy love of video games. The literature thing was purely herself and her free time. Books were an amazing escape from reality, and she loved them. Especially writing stories.
Four years later, Alex graduated and applied to a position in a big game company as a novice game tester. It seemed like a good starting point to get her foot in the door as a game designer. Once she started, however, she fell in love with the work. It combined detailed writing and descriptions with playing video games. She had to be thoroughly familiar with video games and her writing had to be extremely detailed. All of this sort of clicked with her. So, just like that, she stuck with it.
She worked hard, loved her new family, and was thoroughly happy. She was really happy, but a part of her wanted to strike out on her own. Alex wanted to move away, get her own place, and have fun in her own place. Nikki, two years older than Alex, offered to join her. Living with the parents was great, but Nikki also wanted to change her home. She wanted to be out there, just not alone. Alex agreed and just like that, the pair were moving to New Jersey.
The choice of city and state was completely random. Nikki literally threw a dart at a map and said that's where they should go. Essex, NJ was where it had landed so that's where they were going. Packing up all their stuff, a great deal of stuff given to them, and stuff from storage that Anita felt they didn't need. It was wild, crazy, and amazing. Within a week, the pair was set up in a big house in the country outside of the city. It was a choice that Alex had made. She wanted to make a sanctuary, for animals and were creatures. Surely their pack wasn't the only pack with crazy rules. That was what the sanctuary would be there for. Runaways and strays. The humans would know it as a pet sanctuary, but the creatures would know it as safe. That was what was important.
Now at twenty-seven, Alex is thrilled with life and living it up as the owner of a sanctuary and well known video game tester. She's working with the same gaming company, bigger now and is job secure as their top tester. Everything is going well. Nikki is there as well, some of the time, but she mostly lives with a guy in the city. It isn't bad, just odd. Life is life, right?
