"Wake up"Wake up? Who was calling? She was supposed to be dead anyway. No...she didn't want to wake up, why was that voice bothering her. She wasn't doing anything wrong, she was just sleeping... Memories flooded her.She was in a grey, gloomy house of sorts...with a Monster. A monster that turned out to be not so much of a monster after all. There was a point when he stopped hitting her and pushing her around, and it even seemed to her like maybe he cared...or worse, there was sometimes pity in his eyes when he looked at her. As a response for his positive change, she changed too. She stopped trying to escape and there was a new ray of light in the pitch darkness. It all resulted in a new attempt at life. She did not commit any new suicidal attempts and she was even accepting his food, bringing her body to a healthier state. He was even letting Sethan roam the place and she wasn't being locked up any more. Sometimes she would even be allowed to cook and bake."Zerah."Hmm? Someone was calling her name. Her thoughts were the past, memories... Those were not the newest memories she had of that man... No, the day came and as she had known, it was finally her time to die. And although she had known all along...it wasn't any less terrifying."You promised!" She cried out as he pulled her rather roughly by the arm, with her wrists tied behind her back. "You promised you'd make it quick!" He tied her down and much to her horror there was a camera pointing at her from some distance away. Someone actually wanted to see her die! She sobbed and cried, her body quivering uncontrollably in fear. "Who wants me dead? I swear I never hurt anybody!" She cried out, watching as the man loaded his gun. "You didn't hire me to do that. My job is to kill her." This was live?! He was talking to the person that wanted her dead?! "No. My job ends right here." Zerah was staring at him in horror. This person wanted more than to just kill her?! The man frowned, clearly getting annoyed at the person on the other side of the line. "Who is it!?" Zerah cried out. The monster stared at her in silence and pointed the gun at her. She cried, shivering, bracing herself. "Your brother." Her eyes opened wide in shock. BANG!She was shot. And she passed out with a mixture of sheer panic and pain, both physically and emotionally. But she didn't die. He had purposely missed her heart and hit higher on her shoulder. He needed the shot for the realism of the video and to smear the feathers with the blood. He took her back to where he had been keeping her, for he had no intentions of letting her die.A sharp pain stung her shoulder, she was wheezing and quivering. He was working on the wound. "You need to calm down." She heard him say in the distance, she was dazed by the pain. She grabbed his arm. "My brother?" She sobbed, crying, trying to sit down but he pushed her back down. "Why?!" She cried out. "I said calm down." He said as he pressed down on the wound. She squealed out in pain. He shook his head in frustration. "Youa re so f**king fragile! How can you not deal with one gunshot!?" He slapped her hands away when she tried to move his hand away from the wound. "Hold it." He said, grabbing her hand and putting it on the towel above the wound. What the man did not know was that angels were particularly fragile on the shoulder areas, because of their wings. And angels were not the sturdiest of creatures either. The pain and the whole situation was making her panic and making her asthma even worse. He was preparing a syringe with a really strong pain killer. "Breathe woman." But her airways were almost completely shut down by now. She was a healer, but healers could not heal themselves. She was fading quickly, and he could tell. "So f**king weak." He grabbed her arm and injected the pain killer, visibly taking effect immediately and sedating her. She looked up at him, struggling to keep her eyes open. "Why didn't you...kill me?" He locked his gaze with hers. "I do not hurt the innocent.""Wake up."Those deep green eyes of her opened to the world, looking up at him. She was still pretty dazed. He had been taking care of her. "Monster?" She looked over at her shoulder, expertly bandaged by him. He got up and returned to his desk. Zerah winced and sat up, noticing a plate of fresh fruit to the side. She felt funny due to the morphine. She grabbed the grapes and put one in her mouth. She knew eating kept him calm and not in a terrible mood, he seemed to hate it when she didn't eat so eating was in her best interest...Her shoulder was a little numb, but it had been a couple of days now and she was recovering at a good pace. Everything was so confusing... And it still pained her to know that it was her brother who wanted her dead. Sethan meowed and jumped on the bed, purring and rubbing himself on Zerah's leg before leaping onto the man's lap and rolling over his back, exposing his tummy to him so he could be petted.Zerah sighed and looked down, remaining quiet for a moment...too many things spinning around in her head right now. She then finally turned to look at him, although he was not looking at her but at his computer instead. "Monster?" She asked quietly. "Since your job is over... would you mind telling me your name?" She felt weird calling him monster after he saved her life. "What is going to happen with me now? I mean... I am supposed to be dead..." And a lot of people knew who she was. And there was something else. "Jonathan... if he finds out... you'll be in danger..." She knew her step brother all too well. The angel laid back down after finishing a handful of grapes, her eyes glossy with tears but she wasn't a single one of them come out. She knew he didn't like tears. "Thank you for saving my life..." She said in a low tone. "But it really wasn't necessary... You just made it harder on yourself for no reason..." She closed her eyes and a single tear slid down her cheek but she was quick to wipe it away. Sethan turned to look at her and rolled back on his stomach, leaping off of the man's lap and to the bed, laying down next to her. Zerah was wearing one of his Tshirts and a pair of his boxers as per usual now.Her eyes opened once more, looking up at the ceiling. She couldn't stay by him much longer. She knew the chances of Jonathan finding out she was still alive were high, and once he did he would want to get rid of this man. She saw lightning flashing through the window, followed by a roaring thunder and then the sound of pouring rain. How appropriate for her mood...Zerah winced once again and sat up, her shoulder stinging. She pushed herself out of the bed and walked towards the window to see the pouring rain. She turned to look at the man, who seemed completely unfazed by the tempest outside. Then without any notice, all lights went out. Zerah tensed, turning to look at the man once again. Weird...the storm didn't seem strong enough to cause a power outage.
