Is this really happening? Maggie hasn't really been back to her lab, since she gave birth to Connor. Unless you count the couple of visits that she made to show off the baby. The women, of course, went all "Awww" upon seeing Connor when they first arrived there...and he was just loving the attention he was getting from them. She let them babysit for a little, while she went to talk to her boss. He had been wanting to get a chance to talk to her and she recently came back from vacation with Tycho. It had been a well-deserved break from the city and now, they're back. Anyway, she had stepped inside his office and closed the door...though she could hear all the women cooing over Connor, as if she was standing right there. "Maggie, I've been meaning to talk to you about if you're going to come back to work in the lab or not. Your temp is doing a good job and all, but...sometimes, the lights aren't all on upstairs, if you know what I mean." he had said, starting things off. She nodded her head. She didn't have much time to really train them beforehand, so Maggie knew that there would be some sort of problem. Maggie's aware of how the machines work and how they can be sometimes. Well, at least they haven't set the place on fire accidentally.., she thought to herself. "There was one incident, where they were staring off into space so much..that one of the machines started smoking." he added and her jaw dropped a little bit. Guess I spoke too soon, she thought. He must've seen the look on her face, for he nodded his head in understanding. "They're not you, basically." he said. She nodded her head a little bit. He continued to talk about how everyone missed having her around the place and she never thought she would say it, but she ended up telling him that she wanted to focus on being a mom at the moment. He nodded, understanding but a little bummed.
"Well, you've got a job here when you're ready to come back." he simply said.
Her visit didn't last very long after that conversation. For one thing, she planned on making dinner and having it ready for when Tycho returns home from work. And as she made it back to the ladies, Maggie could see that Connor was starting to get a little fussy...so he was getting to be tired from all the excitement. Though the ladies were sad to let him go, they seemed to understand that a nap was in order for the little guy. She soon bid farewell and headed back home. Her hunch had been correct, Connor fell asleep on the way home. When she got in, she laid him down in his crib and made sure she had a baby monitor with her. She can usually hear him, due to her hybrid nature, but it never hurts to have a back-up. Tonight's dinner was going to be simple, pasta with some garlic bread. Since being around the house more often, she's been slowly getting better at cooking and has been taking over a few of the dinners...so that Tycho doesn't have to cook when he gets home from work. It didn't seem fair to make him do so, when she's been sitting around and taking care of Connor.
Maggie had started humming to herself, while she began cooking dinner. Did she ever think she would be content doing this kind of thing, let alone with the man who had wanted nothing to do with her when they first met? If someone told her that a year or so ago that this would be her life, she would've laughed most likely. But here she is, making dinner for herself and a man she's been involved with for a while now. Now, Tycho isn't really affectionate, but when the mood seems to strike him, it's...sweet. She's content with that, she had never wanted somebody who is very affectionate and always wants to spoil her rotten. She may have been a part of the Mafia, but she was no princess. Once the water in the pot got to boiling, she put the pasta in and gave the sauce a little stir before getting the garlic bread into the oven. She heard the door unlock and then open, a half-smile touched upon her lips. Maggie had waited until a familiar form came into view before speaking. "Welcome home, hope you're hungry." she said in greeting.
