and i know you hear their voices
and i know they may seem real
It wasn't that long ago that... Hell had happened to him. Hell... Adam was just a normal human being and now he was something totally different. Some sort of monster that wanted other people's blood. It was sickening to the man... But he was not alone. He came into contact with some others like himself, however, they were older than he was and often started crap with him for being a weak fledgling. Feeling so lost, alone, out of place, and hideous (not outside, but inside), Adam turned his back on his friends and family. Well, his friends. He was kind of stuck with his family. At least he managed to convince them to let him work nights... It was good for due to people walking around, the goofer dust that was located on the floors and windows were used and needed to be replaced... Which made him be able to walk into the store without stopping like he hit an invisible wall. Now that was painful... It was a miracle his father didn't see that happen. Else he might be in a world of hurt. Who knows.
Either or, the man was on his own. It was halfway his decision on this. Half of which was this new feeling of what he is; what he became. He was a monster that sucked people dry and most of the time killed them... He was a monster! He needed to get away from people... Too scared of death, so this was the next option - going in hiding; except for his family here and there. If he hid from them they'd know something was up, which was not something he wanted. So he tried his best to stay away from the light... And if he had to work on the day shift he came in early and made sure the place was darker as well as stayed away from the light. At least he worked at the store two-ish days... The other job was the other five, so it wasn't that bad. Not like he could complain...
Hunger... Instead of going to work he called off sick. Claimed it was the flu or something and with his scratchy voice from starving himself, they believed him. So he was at home, hungry out of his mind... A part of him didn't want to feed as he was still stuck thinking about what he did some days ago. He killed a woman. An innocent woman who he found out was engaged and with child. He felt so horrible... But this hunger, it was driving him insane! Adam already threw items across the room in a 'hangry' rage. Pacing around his home with his mouth open to breathe since his nose couldn't handle his rapid panting, his anger started to rise, along with his unremarkable hunger. He didn't want to eat but now the hunger was winning over. Throwing another item, a picture frame, across the room, he soon stomped to the door, opened it, and slammed it shut behind him - not even bothering to lock it behind him. He didn't care right now. All he cared about was food. Any food.
He walked alone in the cold winds, though not like he could feel them well. Apparently becoming a monster of the dark, also known as a 'vampire', he was more or less cold-blooded and much colder than normal. His temperature was colder than normal, however he did sometimes adapt to the surrounding temperature, though that was a rare gift in itself. Call it the chain of survival. When things got crappy, his body reacted. However, when it got crappy for his body and his body reacted much like now with his starvation, it just ended bad, unlike temperature fluctuation. So with hunger basically controlling him, Adam walked out of his neighborhood – which was quite barren at this time of night. With no people outside but heartbeats calmly beating from inside the house, heard by sensitive heightened vampire ears, there was no one to feed from. Though when he entered part of the city, he almost lunged at a few cars; hissing as they drove close by him. He couldn't help it, they were so close but around metal... Though that didn't mean crap when it came to a vampire, with their increased strength and all. However, cars were too annoying for him, and apparently his body agreed, so the man continued to walk; growling in his wake and getting more irritated along the way.
Walking away from the noisy city, which was getting to be an annoyance and a pain to his heightened and sensitive hearing, he ventured out again and soon found himself walking on the sidewalk in a more enclosed area. A deserted road with a lot of trees around. Mobile homes and small houses scattered the elongated front lawns... Though to his left, a sign, and much more mobile homes... His heart raced... As he heard heartbeats so close once again, and some much louder – an indication there wasn't anything in the way to dim it down some, which only meant that they were outside... In the open. Deciding that was better than nothing, Adam went to investigate.
Walking down a small dirt road, he soon passed some homes and soon felt the heartbeat that was so loud, he swore he could almost feel it. The person was close. Licking his lips, he ventured into the darkness where the streetlights that resided here and there didn't shine so well. Soon, he found the man, outside checking something. What was he doing? Oh, no, he wasn't checking anything, he was having a smoke break. Adam smelt that smoke for a while now, and now he knew the source. Without hesitation or looking around, Adam lunged at the man, slamming him down on the ground. The cigarette managed to fly up by his neck and by the time he slammed the man down, it was under his shirt a bit; burning his neck a tad. Growling, Adam ripped part of his shirt so the cigarette fell out. As the man pushed up on Adam, trying to get free, Adam slammed him back down. As the man opened his mouth, trying to speak, Adam quickly put his hand over his mouth and quickly dug his fangs into the mans neck; drinking as if he didn't have much time.
Soon enough, the man's heartbeat slowed down and his protesting body movements did as well. Soon enough, Adam pulled his face away, but it was too late. Dum dum... Dum... Dum.... Dum. And then it all stopped. Gasping softly, Adam looked down at the lifeless man underneath him. Oh gosh... He killed again. Control... The man lacked it dearly. Hesitating a bit and hearing footsteps and heartbeats inside the home right next to him, Adam got up and rushed off; trying his best to stay in the darkness before slipping out of the mobile home area. With his arms around his abdomen, Adam walked with his face downwards, almost in mere shame. It was then that he felt a heartbeat. Maybe a little too late than he wished to, for he was concentrating on what just happened than anything else. So now, he couldn't run away or hide. Quickly, however, he wiped his face a bit, trying to rid the blood the best he could. However parts of his face remained a little pink, as if his chin was blushing... And his neck and chest, well, there was some blood there. Hopefully this person didn't notice anything as they walked by...
